The boat we’ll be using for our Atlantic crossing isn’t just any ocean rower — it’s already proved itself on the exact same journey.

In 2020, Belgian brothers Damien and Bernard Van Durme rowed this boat successfully from Tenerife to Antigua as part of the World’s Toughest Row. Their expedition showcased the strength, reliability, and seaworthiness of “The Brothership”, the vessel we’re now proud to inherit.
They’ve generously offered us the opportunity to purchase this boat, already equipped and tailored for this specific route. It includes:
- Ocean-tested navigation systems
- Solar-powered charging
- Emergency communications
- Autopilot and safety gear
- Enough space for two rowers to alternate shifts on a nonstop crossing
Why We Need Support
While the boat has already proved itself on the Atlantic, purchasing and preparing it for a second expedition is still a major financial undertaking. The full cost, including essential refurbishments, is approximately €65,000 — and that’s before factoring in shipping, certifications, training, and supplies.
Your support helps us:
- Secure this proven vessel
- Refurbish and relaunch her for a new crossing
- Document the journey with real-time updates and data
- Inspire others — especially people with chronic conditions — to redefine what’s possible
You’re not just helping us buy a boat.
You’re helping launch a story.
